Let Me Tell You About My Meatballs – Colorado Trail Day 6

On Day 6 of our Colorado Trail thru-hike, we finally found our new rhythm. After a few days off the trail, it was time to focus on getting back in shape and, most importantly, making sure Leo was comfortable. We made a conscious decision to slow down and do fewer miles, allowing Leo’s paws to get used to the rugged gravel and rocky terrain.
This video chronicles our journey as we covered a solid 13-14 miles, ending the day with a major milestone: our first night camping at over 10,000 feet! We found a breathtakingly beautiful meadow to call home for the night, a perfect reward for our perseverance. This day was a powerful lesson in listening to your body (and your dog’s!), proving that sometimes, less is more on a long-distance hike.
